I’m just totally intrigued by the simplicity of a small torch and it’s versatility, in particular the National 3A/B.

From one tank of oxygen I’ve made over a hundred small pendants. I’m not going for the speed at which they’re knocked out, more like the time it takes to create a quality item with simple equipment.

Recently watching a friend from Canada working, I realised that size isn’t everything. It’s the quality of the finished item. Using a small torch seems to force me to pay more attention to detail. So I made a series of shrooms;-)

Then I made some more. and some more. I just love making these things. Then I did some with solid colours and wigwags… Just love playing around with simple stuff heh heh keepin it simple…

I’ve also made up some custom cane on the Red Max and pulled down into the rods I need for making smaller pendants.

I call it pirate cane, it’s more of a concept than a fashion, like even when things are in black and white, it’s always nice to see a bit of colour in there.

Like when the British navy enforced the law in black and white, pirates were having a fucking great time out on the high seas, adding colour to the culture.

Here’s the original cane:

Today Slinger announced his gallery show opening on Portland, drawing attention to the art of glass pipe making. These skilled and talented makers are pushing the envelope of creativity regarding the art glass scene. The law imposes a curfew on their creativity and just like pirates should, they work in the face of adversity to create amazing works.

Quoting Slinger;

“haha, yeah, pipes are hardly shocking, many use them daily,,,,
the shock is either OMG, pipes in a gallery?
or
OMG, it took this long for pipes to be in a gallery?
choose your poison… ”

Good luck with the exhibish, Slinger, I hope you have a fucking blast man.
